Fitting is a nightmare
I owned yetis in the 80's. then they were made of a softer rubber rand. They were a faff to put on back then, but doable without loss of skin and letting of blood. This new c. 2013 incarnation took me 2 hours to get one boot sorted. after following an online video which showed me how to boil them for 20 mins first. I'm a strong and fit guy, but I needed 24 hours rest before the next one could be attempted due to muscle fatigue. During the second boot fitting, the rand split and I lost my will to continue with them. Sent them back for a refund. Even if I had succeeded, the likelihood is that I would have returned them as the degree of hassle they are to fit means they would have to stay on boots permanently. I've always rated Berghaus kit over a 30 year period, but this product is only really worthwhile for boots for winter use where you would never take the gaiters the boot. Thick mud gets inside Yeti gaiters
The Yeti gaiters are good to keep out very sloppy mud and I was glad I got them. However they have a bar underneith the sole and thick mud seems to ooz through this up in the boot. By the end of a muddy walk you can end up with quite a bit of mud packed in between the boot and the gaiter, all round the boot laces. This is hard to clean out and then it takes many days for the boots to be dry enough to use again. However they kept my feet dry in some quite extreme conditions and that is the main thing.
