Keela Munroe on Kinder Scout
Recently took this jacket up Kinder Scout, not to adventurous, but not bad for a first test of a new waterproof...
Well, the day was windy and dry - to start with - but by the time we had made the summit on the east side the wind was gusting at 50+mph, still no rain though, so we carried on.
The jacket was keeping me well warm, I'd got a long sleeved base layer on, and the jacket - thats all :-)
'bout an hour later we made Kinder Downfall, and the wind picked up a notch and brought the rain with it, visibility dropped to about 50 feet and wind at 70+mph with very heavy rain, still bone dry and warm - though some difficulty keeping to my feet!
Aimed for kinder low and then edale rocks to try and get off the hill as it was 'serious walking' now.
The wind gave us another nudge, 80+mph, visibility bout 20 feet, horizontal heavy rain and sleet. nice.
Bone dry, warm and cozy! Top Jacket!
Keela Munro jacket
As someone who has tested and tried lots of waterproof jackets from cheap to highly expensive, i can say that this jacket far surpassed my expectations..
The jackets come in realistic sizes, so if you are an XL bordering an XXL then get the XL as they do come up quite big.. The jacket itself is designed very well and the multitude of pockets are properly made and deep, far better than some jackets that are twice the price, the pocket lining inside makes a difference too. The jacket is longer than the current trend of short in the body jackets which is a blessing to the taller climbers out there, and the hood is amazing, and well designed with a proper wired peak. The jacket is nice and thick in construction and i am confident that it stands up to harsh conditions. The jacket has been tested out on some very rainy conditions and i was snug as a bug with no leaks or gaps and kept me 100% dry. The zips are fine and work well with gloved hands and the collar comes up nice and high...
